Certified Training Program: Aerial Work Platforms in Tree Care

Tree care from the platform – your path to the ETW platform.
Climbing is not the right way for everyone – and that's completely ok. With the aerial work platform you can reach the entire crown area professionally and safely. After passing the exam, you receive a certificate that enables you – after relevant professional experience in tree care – to enter the ETW platform and subsequently the European Tree Technician.

Chainsaw Course

The chainsaw demands respect and skill. In this 2-day course you'll learn handling, maintenance, ergonomic working posture, and the most important felling and delimbing techniques – hands-on and safe.

Whether an aspiring arborist, hobby gardener, or forest owner: this course is for everyone who wants to work safely with a chainsaw. And it fulfills the legally required instruction obligation according to §14 ASchG.

To bring: cut-protection trousers, cut-protection boots, helmet with face and hearing protection; if available: chainsaw and felling tools.

ETT – European Tree Technician (Training Program 2026/27)

ETT – the highest qualification in tree care.
Recognized throughout Europe, at master level – the European Tree Technician is the next logical step after the ETW. Professionally, technically, commercially. Upon passing the exam, you receive two certifications: ETT and Tree Technician according to ONR 121122.

ETW – European Tree Worker (Training Program 2026/2027)

ETW – the recognized skilled-worker qualification in tree care.
Recognized throughout Europe, trained with a hands-on approach – the European Tree Worker is the foundation for a professional career in tree care. Available either as climbing or platform. Upon passing the exam, you receive two certifications at once: ETW and Arborist according to ONR 121122.

Introductory Climbing Taster Course

Never been in a tree? Then it's time.
One day, one rope, one tree – and you right in the middle of it. The introductory climbing taster course gives you a real feel for whether working in trees is the right thing for you. For everyone aged 12 and up who simply wants to get closer to the living being that is the tree.

PPE Expertise Certification according to DGUV Principle 312-906

PPE Expertise – you inspect, you protect.
Anyone who uses PPE must have it inspected annually – by someone who really knows how. In this 3-day course, you become exactly that person. With a recognized exam and official registration as a competent inspector.

Rescue Training

Rescue Training – because an emergency has no dress rehearsal.
In an emergency, every second counts. Those who can perform a tree rescue procedure in their sleep can act correctly under pressure. This 4-hour course trains exactly that – and at the same time fulfills the legally required annual instruction.

SKT A

Rope Climbing Technique A – safely into the tree.
The first and decisive step into professional tree care. In SKT A you learn how to ascend safely, move in the tree, work hands-free, and in an emergency bring an injured team member safely to the ground.

5 intensive practical days (Mon–Fri) – the certificate exam takes place separately on Saturday, so you can consolidate what you've learned in peace.

SKT A is the foundation for everything that follows: SKT B, SKT C, and the path to the internationally recognized European Tree Worker and European Tree Technician.

SKT B

Rope Climbing Technique B – the next level.
You've completed SKT A, have 200 climbing hours in the logbook – and are ready for more. In SKT B the focus is on the use of the chainsaw in the tree, various ascent techniques, and basic branch and stem rigging techniques. Everything that belongs to the daily craft of an arborist.

5 intensive practical days (Mon–Fri) – the certificate exam takes place separately on Saturday, so you can consolidate what you've learned in peace.

With SKT A and B you are ideally prepared for the SKT C – Rigging Specialty Course and the path to the internationally recognized European Tree Worker and European Tree Technician (whereby SKT C is an optional but not a mandatory prerequisite for ETW and ETT).

SKT C / Rigging Spezialkurs

SKT C – Rigging Specialty Course: Professional course for advanced practitioners.
Speedline construction, dismantling at exposed locations, winch and bollard systems, crane-assisted felling – this 5-day course takes you to the next level. Hands-on, intensive, and led by a trainer with many years of professional experience.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid SKT B certificate
  • Course: Rigging on a Model (mandatory)
  • Ideally at least 1 year of SKT B practical experience
  • Valid occupational health examination for "work at heights with risk of falling"
  • 16-hour first aid certificate (no more than 4 years old; refresher courses are ok)

PPE: Your own, inspected PPE with inspection protocol must be brought and presented on the first day of the course. Ascent devices must be approved for the Austrian market. PPE inspections can be carried out in advance by staff at the Kreitl Shop in Raasdorf (Freeworker Austria) – to schedule an appointment: +43 664 517 72 44.

Certificate & Recertification: After passing the exam, you will receive an SKT C certificate and a card – valid for 3 years. For recertification, a 4-hour rescue training session as well as a current first aid and occupational health certificate are required.

Young Tree Care

Young Tree Care – the foundation for healthy trees.
What happens in the first years determines the next decades. In this 1-day workshop you'll learn how to specifically promote young trees through correct watering, mulching, pruning, and protection against wildlife browsing – for strong roots, a stable crown, and a tree that lasts.
