Identity and Mandate
ARBOR TECHNICAL INSTITUTE KREITL is a young institute built on years of experience. Great dedication, the joy of implementing our corporate goals, as well as enthusiasm for nature and tree care, and the associated values shape our spirit.
We are the leading training and continuing education institute for tree care and rope climbing technique in Austria. We see our mandate as raising awareness of sustainability, aesthetics, and safe working, and passing this on through a solid, well-thought-out education. Competent support before, during, and after training, as well as accompanying our clients into professional life, are important to us.
Values
The foundation of our working together (working, teaching, and learning) is an appreciative and respectful interaction with one another. The principle of equal treatment, according to which all people are free and equal in dignity and rights, is a matter of course for us. This is reflected in the way we overcome language barriers, act inclusively, and teach in an integrative manner. Goal-oriented action that incorporates the opinions of those entrusted to us, as well as transparent communication of the results of our actions, guide what we do.
Listening and having an open ear for clients and colleagues leads to mutual trust and understanding.
Workplace safety – whether in the tree, on the rope, or on the company grounds – is lived. Mindfulness and sustainable handling of nature and climbing equipment is modeled for clients. As a leading training institute in tree care, we commit to teaching and working in accordance with the current state of the art.
Clients
The clients of Arbor Technical Institute Kreitl are garden and landscape gardeners, forestry workers, micro-entrepreneurs offering garden services, career changers who want to make a professional change, employees of municipalities and city offices responsible for the green spaces of their municipality/city, as well as people who take the courses out of personal interest. Course participants include auxiliary workers, skilled workers, managers, self-employed individuals, and employees. People with primary school education are just as much our clients as people with university degrees and of different nationalities.
General Corporate Goals
The Arbor Technical Institute Kreitl has set itself the goal of establishing tree care training that conveys solid knowledge about the tree and its significance in the ecosystem, as well as safety and awareness in what is sometimes very dangerous work.
Through our training, we want to awaken a passion for the topic of trees in our clients and give them the tools they need to be able to explain and sell tree care measures to their future clients.
Skills
We look back on more than 25 years of training experience and have significantly shaped the tree care scene in Austria. ATI continues to influence the industry and sets the standards for the state of the art.
Our trainer team around Managing Director Marcel Kreitl and Head Coach Christian Seibert consists of experienced practitioners who regularly undergo further training and are successfully established in professional life. This results in hands-on and contemporary teaching under the motto "learning by doing".
We see our strength in teaching and organizing in an inclusive, thoughtful, and comprehensive manner. Our institute management offers clients a complete package: high professionalism in a familiar environment.
Services
ATI offers well-thought-out tree care training and continuing education that guides participants seamlessly from beginner to master level. A large number of courses, workshops, and training programs at a wide variety of dates spread throughout the entire year makes it easier for participants to find a date that suits them.
Our courses, training programs, and exams are conducted according to internationally recognized standards and are available in several languages – German, English, Hungarian, as well as Slovak and Czech.
With the bi-annual Tree Symposia in spring and autumn, we create regular and hands-on continuing education opportunities for industry professionals and thereby promote continuous professional exchange and networking within the European tree care community.
Our training and continuing education offering covers the broad spectrum of tree care and rope climbing technique topics.
Sponsoring and support with personnel, knowledge, and materials for industry-related events such as climbing championships and professional conferences are important to ATI.
Resources
Experienced, multilingual trainers pass on their knowledge in a highly professional environment at the company grounds of Kreitl GmbH. Kreitl GmbH is a top-equipped leading tree care company in Austria.
Tree care equipment of all kinds can be tried and purchased under individual consultation at the specialist retailer (Freeworker Shop Austria), which is located in the same building. The option of renting high-quality equipment for the duration of the course is also available.
The trees of the municipality of Raasdorf and surrounding municipalities offer our clients realistic training scenarios of all difficulty levels.
Our modern company location was expanded and renovated in the summer of 2018 and now offers, in addition to the two training rooms, dedicated restroom facilities for participants, a kitchenette, a tree care lounge, and seating on the rooftop terrace.
Directly on the company grounds, various climbing facilities (tower, rig, "horse") enable the simulation of various climbing procedures. In rainy weather, we can also practice indoors. In spring 2021, the trainers jointly implemented one of our strategic development goals and erected the "iron tree" in the hall. Only: it is not "iron." It is made of wood and offers participants a great opportunity to continue climbing even in rain, snow, and cold. The practice area for pruning and felling work was also relocated from the storage area to the display garden of Kreitl GmbH, expanded, and improved, so that pruning and felling exercises can be made more demanding and resource-efficient.
Since we produce our know-how, which we write down in scripts that are entirely produced, designed, printed, and bound in-house, changes to the content can be implemented quickly. To always be up to date, we sometimes update our scripts several times a year. They serve clients both as a learning aid and as a reference work.
Definition of Successful Learning
We primarily consider a learning outcome successful when what has been learned is put into practice. When not only those participants who have passed a possible certificate exam go home with the feeling of having learned something, but also those who have not yet passed the exam. Participants who do not (yet) pass the exam receive constructive feedback on their performance from our examiners, as well as specific guidance on how they can prepare in a targeted way for a repeat exam.
The Arbor Technical Institute Kreitl sees its strength in teaching in a hands-on and easily understandable way. Through repeating and consolidating what has been learned, our course participants learn safe and independent work in confidence in what they have learned. Secondarily, we consider learning successful when participants can apply what they have learned flexibly and variably. This applies above all to participants in advanced courses and training programs.
Successful learning takes place in an environment in which learners feel comfortable. We achieve this with well-organized courses, training programs, and events, and with competent trainers who respond to participants, as well as training locations where learning is enjoyable.
The mission statement was created participatively in the course of the first self-report in 2013. As part of the re-certifications, it was revised in 2017, 2021, and 2025.
