Your training in tree care – three levels, one goal

Whether you're just starting out in tree care or looking to establish yourself at the next level – with us, you'll find the right path. We offer three clearly structured training levels that build on one another and take you step by step to becoming a recognized professional.

1: SKT – Rope Climbing Technique
The entry point into safe work in the tree. From the basics of tree care through SKT A and SKT B to the optional SKT C / rigging specialty course – here you lay the foundation for everything that follows.

2: ETW – European Tree Worker / Arborist according to ONR 121122
The recognized skilled-worker qualification in tree care – available either as:

ETW climbing – climbing in the tree, with rope and technique
ETW platform – professional and safe work from the aerial work platform

3: ETT – European Tree Technician / Tree Technician according to ONR 121122
The highest recognized qualification in tree care in Austria. Building on the ETW, this training program leads to master level – professionally, technically, and commercially.

ETW & ETT – the Europe-wide recognized qualifications in tree care

Both certifications were developed by the European Arboricultural Council (EAC) and are recognized in all EU member states. They represent a consistent, high standard in tree care – and are the industry benchmark in Austria.

ETW – European Tree Worker / Arborist according to ONR 121122

The ETW is the skilled-worker qualification in tree care. As a European Tree Worker, you carry out the essential work on and in the tree professionally and independently – with the goal of maintaining the health and safety of trees. Nature, environmental, occupational, and accident protection are an integral part of the training.

The training program is divided into 3 blocks and concludes with a certificate exam, attended by an international EAC supervisor. Upon passing the exam, you receive two certifications at once: the European Tree Worker and the Arborist qualification according to ONR 121122.

Course content (excerpt): tree biology, soil science, tree pruning, plant protection, tree planting, tree protection, crown stabilization, species protection, tree inspection, as well as legal and economic aspects of tree care.

Prerequisites:

Valid SKT-B certificate (climbing) or HUB certificate (platform)
At least 1 year of documented tree care experience
Valid occupational health examination & 16-hour first aid certificate

ETT – European Tree Technician / Arborist according to ONR 121122

The ETT is the highest recognized qualification in arboriculture – at master craftsman level. It builds on the ETW and is aimed at experienced tree care professionals who want to take the next step: toward leadership responsibility, site management, and technical supervision.

European Tree Technicians are not only experts on the tree itself – they also understand the technical, organizational, and economic contexts of their profession. This qualifies them for positions in middle management and supervisory roles.

After passing the exam – again with an international EAC supervisor – you receive two certifications: European Tree Technician and Arborist according to ONR 121122.

Course content (excerpt): tree physiology, tree valuation, site factors, tree inspection & diagnosis (incl. resistance drilling measurement, sonic tomography, wind load simulation), occupational safety, risk assessment, cost calculation, procurement law, business accounting, as well as laws and associations.

Requirements:

Valid ETW certificate (or ISA Certified Arborist)
At least 3 years of professional experience in tree care

Continuing Education – because standing still is not an option

You've completed your basic training – so what's next? The tree remains a complex system, technology keeps evolving, and the demands of the industry keep rising. If you want to stay ahead, you keep learning. Not because it's required – but because it makes the difference.

What awaits you with us

Our continuing education program is aimed at everyone who already works in tree care and wants to deepen or expand their knowledge in a targeted way. The range extends from practical workshops to specialist lectures to specialized courses – throughout the entire year.

In addition to our own team of trainers, we regularly bring in national and international tree care experts. Fresh input from the best in the industry – right here in Raasdorf.

Also creditable toward recertification
Many of our continuing education offerings can be credited toward the hour requirements for recertification:

ETW / Arborist according to ONR 121122: 30 hours within 3 years
ETT / Tree Technician according to ONR 121122: 45 hours within 3 years

In addition, the law requires annual instruction – for example on PPE, rescue, and chainsaw use. We have the right offering for that too.

Twice a year: the Tree Symposium
Twice a year, we hold the Tree Symposium – a combination of specialist lectures, a practical forum, and a trade fair. The perfect setting to develop professionally, meet like-minded people, and look beyond your own horizon.
