ETT – European Tree Technician (Training Program 2026/27)

The European Tree Technician (ETT) is a Europe-wide standardized certification at master level, recognized by all EU member states. The training builds on the ETW or an equivalent qualification (ISA Certified Arborist).

ETTs are highly qualified professionals who apply their knowledge directly on trees and in the context of urban trees. Their goal: to maintain the health and road safety of trees – taking into account environmental and nature protection as well as current technical and legal standards. In addition to professional expertise, ETTs possess knowledge in technical and organizational matters – qualifying them for positions in middle management and supervisory functions.

An international EAC supervisor is present at every exam to oversee the examination.

Good to know: although the ETT is standardized throughout Europe, country-specific differences exist in the legal framework. We teach and examine on the basis of Austrian law.

Bonus: upon passing the exam, you receive two certifications: European Tree Technician and Tree Technician according to ONR 121122.

Requirements

• Valid ETW certificate or valid ISA Certified Arborist certificate

• Proof of at least 3 years of professional experience in tree care

   

Extraordinary admission is possible if it is demonstrated through professionally relevant certificates or diplomas that the required knowledge, skills, and experience are present – as well as at least 5 years of professional experience in the tree industry.
